The statutes, rules and regulations of the State Universities Retirement System will prevail, unless modified by the Board of Trustees.
To be eligible for retirement services offered by the University, a person must have fulfilled all the requirements for retirement as specified by the State Universities Retirement System of Illinois (SURS), must have completed five years of employment at Illinois State University immediately prior to retirement (disability years five will be considered as employment years), and in those last five years must have participated in the State Universities Retirement System.
