3.1.19 Medical Care Assistance Program

Policy

The University offers a Medical Care Assistance Program that allows employees working full-time or not less than half-time to save tax dollars on certain health care expenses that either are not covered or are not paid in full by the Group Health Insurance. Employees may contribute up to $5,000 of salary to a nontaxed account for this purpose. Examples under this program are: medical, dental, and vision expenses not covered by the insurance program, laboratory fees, health insurance deductibles and co-payments, and fees above the "reasonable and customary" charges. To enroll in this plan complete an application available in the Office of Human Resources during the annual Benefit Choice Period in May. Benefit Choice changes become effective July 1st of each year for twelve month employees and on the contract date for others.
