3.1.36 Wellness Participation
Policy
In support of the University's commitment to the wellness concept, full-time employees may, with the approval of their supervisors, be permitted release time not to exceed one and one-half hours per week, to participate in Wellness Program activities.
Guidelines
The Wellness Participation Policy indicates that the University strongly encourages its employees to participate in activities and programs available through the University Wellness Program for Faculty and Staff. The following statements are guidelines that are designed to define what constitutes a Wellness Program activity.
- A Wellness Program activity is one that promotes health and well-being and is administered or sponsored by the Illinois State University Wellness Program for Faculty and Staff.
- Individuals desiring release time to participate in Wellness Program activities that occur during their normal work hours must be full-time University employees. Part-time employees are welcome to participate in Wellness Program activities on their own time.
- Injuries that may occur during participation in a Wellness Program Activity are not covered by Workers' Compensation.
- Wellness Program activities occur on the University campus or in facilities/areas approved by the Wellness Program Director or Assistant Director.
- Release time for participation in any Wellness Program activity is based on agreement of the individual employee and his/her supervisor. Approval for participation takes into account the current and anticipated operational needs of the employing unit which should not be adversely affected by participation in the Wellness Program. A Wellness Participation Agreement is available to units that want to use a written form.
- The Wellness Program is available to all University employees and University retirees. Employees’ spouses, domestic partners, or significant others may also participate in activities. Children/grandchildren of employees are welcome to attend family activities.
- A current listing of approved Wellness events for release time is available from the Wellness Program Office (438-8311).
